When Taylor reached out during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic, their remote collaboration produced Folklore — an album that reinvented Taylor's artistic identity almost overnight. Dessner's Long Pond Studio became the creative home for both Folklore and Evermore, and his indie-folk production aesthetic gave Taylor the sonic freedom to write her most literary, character-driven songs.
